Basil should be harvested regularly to prevent flowering.

Not sure what these are. The can of seeds said that it contained Annual Baby’s Breath and Candytuft, but these don’t look like the pictures I’ve seen of them.

My cat is in the picture because she loves it when I’m in the garden and wants to be pet constantly. :)

Here is another wildflower that came up out of the mix. Here are some Dwarf Blue Cornflowers that came up. They are so striking. I love blue flowers. My only worry is that the gardeners will kill them or step on them.

A pumpkin starting.

A pumpkin starting.

These should be the Yellow Pear variety of heirloom tomatoes...

These should be the Yellow Pear variety of heirloom tomatoes that I planted.

More Roma tomatoes?

More Roma tomatoes?

This is another volunteer tomato I think. We saved seeds from some peppers we were cooking with and my daughters and I planted them for “Earth Hour”. :) We have about 4 of these plants now.

My heirloom “Violet Jasper” tomatoes are coming...

My heirloom “Violet Jasper” tomatoes are coming along! We’re saving it for company that is coming soon.

A closer look at the leeks.

It is just the greatest thing to gather food that you’ve grown in your backyard.

Pulled up some leeks today. They took a long time to finally...

Pulled up some leeks today. They took a long time to finally reach this size, and I’m still not sure why. I planted them in the fall. Quite a few have flowers.

We will make potato and leek soup with them, but I also want to find some more recipes using leeks since the weather has been so hot.

My husband jarred a bunch of jalapeños from our garden.
